Finals week is here. While you may be trying to mentally prepare yourself for a week full of late nights and frantic cramming, there are many tips and tricks that may help ease that end-of-semester stress.
If you’re being hit hard this week, here’s a list of ways to save time, ace those exams, and look cute doing it.
Vitamins
Take your vitamins! In times of stress, your body could really use a little help. You can buy little bottles of dissolvable Vitamin B tablets that make it easier to wake up in the morning and also boost your immune system. Everyone knows the only thing worse than exams is taking them when you’re sick.
Dry Shampoo
For those days where you didn’t make time to shower and style your hair, make yesterday’s look last another day with a little dry shampoo. Just spray it in, shake it out and enjoy the added volume. Throwing in a cute headband makes you appear to have it all together and keeps your hair out of your face while you’re studying.
Colorful Pens
Treating yourself to new school supplies makes you want to knock out those flash cards and study guides. Studies have shown that copying your notes in color help you remember material better.
Starbucks Via Instant Coffees
Finals week inevitably comes with large amounts of caffeine. Sure, espresso beverages from campus are delicious and help give you energy, but they can wreak havoc on your bank account. Pick up a package of instant coffee instead! You can choose from tons of awesome flavors you can take with you anywhere. When you need a caffeine fix, you can take your mug into the coffee shop, ask for hot water and add in your drink mix.
Healthy Snacks
Stress and lack of sleep make you crave high-carb, high-calorie foods. Get ahead of your cravings and bring along some healthy snacks. You can get small packs of almonds, dried fruit, pretzels, popcorn, or energy bars from the market or any grocery store for a decent price. Though I can’t promise you won’t still want a Cookout milkshake, packing some better alternatives ahead of time will prevent you from feeling those hunger pangs that make it impossible to focus.
A Built in Break
Whether it’s a new magazine, a red-box movie, or a box of brownies, we all need a break at some point. Though it may seem like a good idea to marathon in the library, it’s hard to retain information in such stressful conditions! Make time to step away from the books, take care of yourself, and remind yourself that there’s more to life than finals!
At the end of the day, they’re just tests. You are not defined by your GPA alone. As long as you are doing the best you can, your parents will still love you and the world will continue spinning. Though academics are important, college is a precious time in your life and sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of all of the amazing things that also come with the college experience. Make time to unwind with friends, take a deep breath, and knock those exams out of the park, collegeittes!
