This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Finals are done and December graduation is upon us. This week’s campus celebrity will be putting on her cap and gown on Saturday and walking across the stage receiving her Psychology degree in hopes of one day becoming a Speech Language Pathologist. Heather Jesenovec is one of the sweetest people to every grace SAU’s campus, so here are a few things you need to know about this soon-to-be college graduate.

Hometown: Farley, IAYear in School: Senior graduating in December 2014.Major: B.S. PsychologyPlans After Graduation: In the process applying to grad school. I plan on working back home until next fall if I am accepted into the Master’s program at SAU. I would also like to travel a little bit before I go back toschool. Not anywhere crazy, just a road trip to different states I have never been to before.Role Models: My parents. They made me realize the value of hard work and they have worked hard to provide a good life to my sister and me. They are extremely supportive in all of the decisions I have made so far.Why did I want to become a Speech Pathologist? I always wanted to help people, I just wasn’t sure how. I knew I wanted to work in a hospital setting, but did not want to be a nurse or doctor. I job shadowed a few speech pathologists, and I was really fascinated by the work they do. People tend to take their ability to communicate for granted, and when a person can no longer communicate as they use to, it is hard for everyone involved. I want to be that person that helps people with their rehabilitation of speech, so they can someday be able to communicate with other people again. What I liked about SAU/what I will miss: I liked how SAU felt like a close-knit community and the majority of the professors I have had were always friendly and willing to help out if needed. I will miss being able to see and hangout with my friends every day.One memory that stands out from SAU: Living in Cosgrove freshman year and having fire alarms go off early in the morning!Advice for underclassman: Do your best, but also enjoy your time here; it goes by so fast!Favorite Quote: “The past can hurt, but the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it” -The Lion King
