The Most Underrated Christmas Songs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas lights are twinkling, snowflakes are falling, Frozen is playing on repeat, and you hear Christmas carols practically everywhere you go. I bet you’ll eventually get sick of hearing Sleigh Ride and Santa Baby over and over again, so here are a few Christmas songs that you don’t hear enough!

“Only Wish This Year” by Britney Spears

This is one of my favorite Christmas guilty pleasures with two of my favorite things: Britney Spears and Christmas music. It’s a classic Britney song that gets into your head and never leaves.

“The Happy Elf” by Harry Connick Jr.

Harry has some of the best Christmas music out there, and a few great TV specials with guests like Whoopi Goldberg. His original song The Happy Elf is especially great, because it’s cheery and bright, and they made a whole movie around it!

“Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” by *NSYNC

Yet another throwback, how could you say no to *NSYNC? This song brings you back to the old JT days, and the video is as 90s as it gets!

“Ho, Ho, Hopefully” by The Maine

The Maine is my favorite band of all time, so of course I had to include them on this list. I quote this song all December long, and if you listen to it, I’m sure you will too. It’s another great Christmas love song, perfect for the holidays!

I hope this got you in a festive mood, and that you’re all searching for some new holiday music! Sing along, because “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Happy listening!
