Every New Year’s Eve you run into the same predicament. You have no idea what to wear despite all of the pretty dresses and other potential outfits you may see in your closet. Do you go sparkly, festive or keep it simple and romantic this year? It’s important to know what works for your friend’s house party versus your parent’s work party that they want you to come to. Hopefully these outfit ideas will help you out in your search for the perfect statement look!

1. Your Friend’s House Party

For this occasion you’re most likely looking for something trendy and fun with mobility and maybe even the ability to help you talk to the cute boy or girl across the room. You’re going to want to go for maximum sparkle while still looking cool and casual. Have some sparkle and shine but keep it looking edgy versus over-the-top crazy with leather accent pieces and cozy patterns.

2. New Year’s Eve with your Family

If you find yourself spending this year’s countdown celebration with your parents or other relatives cooped up on the couch, you’re going to be looking for something very different from your usual club wear or date night look. You’re going to want to be comfy and warm but also have fun with the celebration.

3. A Romantic Night Out

For this look, imagine that your significant other is taking you out to a fancy restaurant, bar or club – you want to look like you only have eyes for them. You also want to dress like you’re out on the best date ever because it’s New Year’s Eve, and it should be exactly that to set a positive precedent for 2015! Choose reds, pinks and metallics in feminine shapes and go full-on girly with it!

4. Work Party

So you want to rock out at the party being thrown by your work, but you still need your look to be appropriate? For this look I’d suggest having fun with metallics and bold accessories but still staying relatively covered up. Don’t wear anything too revealing (more so than what you would normally wear to work) but still have fun with your own creative style. I started here with the idea of a basic slacks your typical suited work outfit and made it more fun by going sleeveless with a vest and a fun top underneath – along with unique accessories, of course.

5. Girl’s Night Out

For this one I’d say go all out – there are no holds barred for a night of dancing, drinking and celebrating the start of a new year and a new term. Start with your favorite party dress and go wild with your accessories and makeup. Instead of going with the age old “take one bracelet off before you leave the house” rule, put one more on because it’s New Year’s Eve! If you’re really looking for something daring, try that trend you’ve been afraid of until now and step outside of your comfort zone.
