Campus Cutie – Michelle Avidisyan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Meet this weeks Her Campus Cutie, Michelle Avidisyan. As a 3rd Year English Major, Michelle is very well rounded not only with her love for Literature but her strong interests in various cultures especially the influence of her multi-cultured background.

Here’s my chat with the lovely Michelle.

What is one thing that you plan on pursuing in the near future?

M: Being a third-year and realizing that graduation is only a year away has pushed me into LSAT preparation mode! As of now, my primary goal is to prepare as much as I possibly can for the LSAT in hopes of securing myself a spot in a great law school.

What is your favorite movie/book?

M: As an English major, choosing just one book as a favorite is rather difficult, but if I had to choose, I would probably pick Christine de Pizan’s The Book of the City of Ladies. Also being a fan of Hayao Miyazaki’s films, my favorite movie would probably be Howl’s Moving Castle.

What’s your favorite experience about UCLA and being a Bruin?

M: Having a broken ankle and being forced to crutch around campus this quarter has shined a light on my favorite thing about UCLA—the students! Any time I have been in need, a student was there to help; seeing UCLA students going out of their way to help a fellow student in need makes me even more proud to be a Bruin.

What are some fun facts about you?

M: I have an irrational fear of porcelain dolls, I drink diet coke instead of coffee, I love going on hikes by myself, finding a quiet area and meditating. I also love cooking for my friends and family; I specifically like cooking Armenian and Persian dishes!

If you had a chance to visit one place, where would it be? (Italy perhaps? LOL)

M: Italy, definitely Italy! I’ve fallen in love with the Italian language, culture, and the literature so visiting Italy is number one on my list.

What’s one thing you love about being an English major?

M: Being an English major means experiencing life in a multitude of ways. We are taught to analyze and interpret situations from all perspectives, whether they are social, cultural, political, historical, or theoretical! It’s the best way to escape our limited worldviews as individual human beings.

Lastly, one word that best describes you?

M: Determined!
