HC: Why did you come to Montclair?
KP: I honestly did not want to come to this school at all! My parents had to drag me to Accepted Students Day my senior year of high school, but once I saw the campus I fell in love. I love how close Montclair is to the city, the beautiful town, and that it (was) a relatively small school that would still allow me to branch out and find a great group of friends which I’ve found in my sorority, Sigma Delta Tau.
HC: What is one of the best experiences you have had so far at Montclair?
KP: Last semester, I had the opportunity to intern at Woman’s Day magazine in New York City. I got to commute into the city three days a week and spend my days in the beautiful Hearst building, writing articles for the magazine’s website and doing a lot of social media work. It was such an amazing experience!
HC: What is your secret pet peeve?
KP: I kind of have a lot! But I would definitely say hearing people chew is the absolute worst. I don’t know why but it makes me cringe!
HC: What is your guilty pleasure?
KP: Oreos. I could eat an entire sleeve of them in one sitting, it’s terrible how addicted I am.
HC: If you could only bring 3 things on an island, what would they be?
KP: A laptop that somehow magically had internet connection because I hate being out of the loop, a good book because I absolutely love reading, and my boyfriend because there’s no way I would survive on a deserted island on my own!
HC: What made you want to write for her campus?
KP: I’ve read Her Campus since my freshman year of college and I always loved the nature and feel of the articles—they’re always light and fun, and aimed perfectly toward college girls. Since I’d love to go into journalism in the future, I figured Her Campus would be a perfect fit for me and it has been wonderful so far!
HC: What is a quote that you love, live by or are inspired by?
KP: “What might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may, in fact, be the first steps of a journey.” I’ve always loved this quote because it reminds me to stay positive, even when nothing seems to be going right.
