The Best and Worst Dressed at the Grammys 2015

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Albany chapter.

On Sunday the 8th of February the 57th annual Grammy Awards was held. The award ceremony is held by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States to celebrate outstanding achievement in the music industry. This year they did not disappoint with so many celebrity guests and performances such as Rihanna, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. The award show also had its fair share of drama this year. We still can’t believe that Beyonce lost out to Beck for Album of the Year and that Kanye got on stage but actually held himself back from repeating the Taylor Swift VMA incident of 2009. The award ceremony also had some great (and some not so great) red carpet style. Here is our best and worst dressed of the Grammys 2015.

Best Dressed

Beyonce looked her usual incredible self on the red carpet in a lace detailed black Proenza Schouler gown. We loved her simplistic makeup and long flowing hair to match.

Beyonce also looked great in this Balmain short black dress while holding her three Grammys for Best R&B Song, Best Surround Sound Album and Best R&B Performance.

Once again, Beyonce made the best dressed list with this gorgeous, angelic, white Roberto Cavalli Atelier gown dress during her eagerly awaited performance of “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”.

Miley Cyrus looked great in an understated but chic black Alexandre Vauthier dress this year. Her simple scraped back hair and makeup really complimented her look and we loved this toned down Miley. Also the cut outs were very on trend throughout the night.

Gwen Stefani was possibly the best dressed in a black Atelier Versace jumpsuit. We loved the unique design matched with the simplicity and stylishness of a black jumpsuit.

Chrissy Teigen looked amazing next to her husband John Legend in a white Emilio Pucci dress with cut out detailing.

Katy Perry channeled a 1920’s flapper in this beaded sheer nude color and silver detailed dress by Zuhair Murad. However, we’re not quite sure of what we think about her new purple hair do.

Worst Dressed

Rihanna stood out in a huge bright pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress resembling a cupcake/ Barbie princess.

Kim Kardashian looked like she was wearing a robe rather than a dress on the red carpet. We’re not too keen on the Jean Paul Gaultier sequined design either. Her husband, Kanye West, also made a strange choice with his boots.

Although we usually like Taylor Swift’s style, this Elie Saab dress definitely isn’t one of our favorite of her red carpet looks. The dress seemed to combine a prom dress and a mermaid’s outfit and the ombre effect metallic blue seemed a bit tacky, especially with her bright purple shoes.

Arianna Grande could have looked incredible in this white Atelier Versace dress but we didn’t like the random draped silver detailing on the one side that seemed so out of place.

Madonna channeled her inner Matador in this strange Givenchy outfit. It was all a little bit too much to handle, especially with the leather thigh high boots and gloves to match.

The definite worst dressed of the night was Joy Villa in this bright orange, see through, construction site plastic ‘dress’ that was also see through and had a matching hair piece.
