3 Simple Valentine DIY Gifts Anyone Can Do

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Valentine’s Day may be your big chance to get crafty and lovey-dovey for your sweetheart… even if you aren’t that much of a Pinterest crafter to begin with. Just because you want to give something heartfelt and homemade doesn’t mean it has to be expensive or difficult to put together! Feel free to take a look at your picks and customize them to suit your valentine’s personality!

DIY Scratch Off Cards

Who doesn’t love winning things? Create a scratch off card for that special someone so they can win the lottery of love. Underneath the hearts you can write reasons why you love them, special things you will do just for them… basically whatever you want!

Supplies needed: construction paper, paint brush, metallic silver paint, dish soap

Instructions: decorate card with scratch off answers filled in as desired, mix 1 part soap 2 parts paint and use paint brush to paint light layers on top of each scratch off section. Just thin layers and let dry completely between layers. Let dry overnight before placing in envelope.

Valentine’s Treat Box

Even if you aren’t the mushy couple, a clever word pun and some treats will get you far in life. Whether you choose “You’re the apple of my eye,” “I’m nuts about you,” or this clever twist with alcohol, a treat box is something your valentine is sure to enjoy.

Supplies needed: box, treats, clever slogan written on construction paper

Instructions: put everything in the box and decorate however you wish.

Favorite Things Package

This is probably the easiest of them all: simply get a brown paper bag and write the poem on the outside and fill with all of your significant other’s favorite things. You can be as extravagant or basic as you want to be which gives this gift great versatility. Plus, it’s just a brown paper bag; how hard can that be?

Supplies needed: Sharpie, brown bag, goodies

Instructions: write poem on outside of bag, fill with treats, and decorate however you wish.
