Guy Tribble, or as he likes to be called, Bud Tribble, is currently the Vice President of Software Technology at Apple Inc. Some questions you may have are: How does one go about becoming so successful? What paths did he take? The answers lie within our very own campus, UC San Diego. Tribble earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics at UCSD as an undergraduate student. He then attended the University of Washington to pursue his MD and PhD in biophysics and physiology. Tribble worked as the vice president of Eazel and NeXT, developing next generation user interface software and Internet services for Linux computers. He was also responsible for guiding internet and e-commerce software as the chief technology offer at Sun-Netscape Alliance. When working with Apple, he was a manager of the original software development team and was a prime developer of the Mac OS and user interface. Tribble is a role model to us; as impressive as his transcript is, it is reassuring to know that he started his amazing career on the same grounds that we walk today. Who knows, you may be sitting in the exact spot Tribble used when he studied at Geisel. Dream big and study hard Tritons!
