9 Reasons We Miss Cass Bar

Every good story starts with, “this one time at Cass Bar.” My dream all of senior year is to have just one more night at Cass Bar… Just one more night. For those of you who never got to experience it, and those of you who wish you could experience it all over again, here are the things we miss the most about our once “second home.”

1. Perfect walking distance
All you had to do was cross one main road and you were already there, although there was always that one group of freshman that took a taxi. Ugh, just why?

2. Cheap drinks
Cass Bar is probably the only bar you will ever leave without spending all of your money. I swear the dollar pitchers were as big as my head. At one point mixed drinks were 50 cents. Is that even real?

3. Guaranteed Tuesday and Saturday plans
You never had to search for plans on Tuesday and Saturday, because Cass was always a fallback option. “Club Goin’ Up on a Tuesday” was clearly inspired by Tick Tock. Cass Bar inspires people.

4. The black couches

I think the picture says it all. Those couches definitely had rabies.

5. Everyone you knew was there
Every place you turned you knew someone. Cass Bar gave you the courage to approach the kid in your economics class that you never spoke to before, but always wanted to. Cass Bar courage made for the most awkward interactions the next day. Damn you, Cass Bar courage. Damn you.

6. The music was always on point
The DJ’s gave the 90’s pop radio station on Pandora a run for their money. A few drinks later and you were doing the awkward bopping around dance.

7. Watching people from the outside deck
When you could no longer take the body-to-body sweat inside, the outside deck was the place to cool down. I personally loved standing on the deck and waiting to see all my friends arriving and walking up to the door. The anticipation was killer.

8. The pool table
Once the clock struck midnight, the sticks turned into swards and the balls turned into flying saucers. To the guy that once poked me in the eye with the pool stick, I still hate you.

9. There is no other place like Cass
No matter how many new places try to attempt the “Tick Tock Tuesday,” nothing will ever compare to Cass. Please stop trying to make Tick Tock happen, it’s not going to happen.

Cass Bar, may you forever Rest in Peace. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to my bank account, because drinks that cost more than 50 cents are really starting to add up.
