HC Spring Break Survival Kit: Goodies Upon Goodies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

It’s cold in New York; dear God, is it cold.  But worry not—with March now emblazoned on our characters, Spring Break is right around the corner, and once again Her Campus and its fabulous sponsors are helping YOU out with a little Spring Break Survival Kit.  Here’s what’s inside:

Completely BareAs you try on bathing suits (hopefully purchased with a special discount from The Orchid Boutique), you notice your shaving routine during the winter has become rather…lax.  Don’t worry!  Completely Bare offers a slew of products including waxing pads that take hair off easy and painlessly.  “No heat, no fuss, no mess”: sounds good to us!

Not Your Mother’s HaircareEveryone knows that packing can be a huge pain, especially when there’s important things like shoes and clothes to fit into a suitcase.  Who has room for tedious items, like conditioner?  Well now you do: Not Your Mother’s offers haircare products ranging from your average “She’s a Tease” hairspray to a travel-savvy “Clean Freak” purifying conditioner that keeps your hair perfect and your suitcase full of what really matters.

LunaYou need food that gives you energy and, although your heart says cheese fries, your goal of a bikini body by mid-March says Luna bar.  The great thing is, Luna bars give you the energy AND the taste, making it easy for you to pass by all those food trucks parked outside of Stern without taking a second glance.

ChipotleOkay, so you’ve been studying for the orgo exam and you really, really need something that’s not a Luna Bar.  As you sit in Bobst it pops into your head: an idea.  An idea that you could walk from 5 South to Chipotle’s location on 8th street in under five minutes, meaning that you’ll barely freeze and will be able to subdue your stomach’s echoing growls.

The Intern’s Handbook by Shane Kuhn & Dirty Rush by Taylor Bell (published by Simon & Schuster)Don’t say you’re tired of “all that reading you have for class”; just don’t. You’re just tired of reading dense material that has your eyeballs leaking and your head pounding.  Above are two suggestions that keep your mind active but not screaming for mercy: The Intern’s Handbook by Shane Kuhn and Dirty Rush by Taylor Bell.  Both are whimsical tales about two factions of life college students are familiar with (internships and sororities) that make for light an enjoyable reading.  Are they dense and profound and Mark Zuckerberg worthy?  No.  But damn, are they page turners.

SABRENot to sound like your mother (whose hair care the above product isn’t), but better safe than sorry.  When you’re out by yourself on Spring Break or wherever you may be, it couldn’t hurt to have a SABRE personal alarm.  SABRE’s product is small and accessible enough to hang off a keychain or purse but is loud enough to deter any potential offenders while alerting others of trouble.  A girl can’t be too careful, now, can she?
