We all know what it’s like trying to manage finances while being at uni. Your student loan can only be stretched so far covering the basics like food, rent and boozy nights out! Well don’t panic! Us girls at Her Campus have shortlisted 4 makeup products similar to high end, premium products that fortunately come in at a fraction of the price! Proof that you can look amazing and feel fabulous when on a budget, and boys will be chasing you around! Read on to see our 4 MUST HAVES!

  1. MUA LUXE VELVET LIP LACQUER £3 vs LIMECRIME VELVETINE approx £15

Soft, matte lips are totally on trend right now especially with the continuous Kylie Jenner obsession! The Limecrime Velvetine Collection has gained a lot of hype on social media recently, however sadly for us UK residents it is not so easy for us to get our hands on them! Plus, £15 could buy us 10 drinks on a night out so we don’t want to be throwing that amount of money away! Thankfully the MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer Collection sold exclusively at Superdrug has a wide range of shades which only require one application then you are good to go! The sleek packaging makes the product look a lot more pricey and the pigmentation certainly pays off! If you don’t already own one of these I most definitely recommend you go try them out, they are not to be missed!

2. BENEFIT BROW ZINGS £24.50 vs ELF STUDIO EYEBROW KIT approx. £4.99

Many girls want to have full brows and this has been an apparent style for the last couple of years now, from the likes of celebs such as Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian. Using a wax and powder palette creates a much more natural, buildable look in comparison to using a brow pencil which can look quite severe. Both of these kits come with a darker wax shade which is applied first to give the illusion of more hair strokes, followed by the lighter brown powder which fills in any gaps while still creating a natural look. I would say that the wax in the benefit kit has a slightly better texture however with the ELF kit being just a quarter of the price, I would totally advise that one!

3.SMASHBOX PHOTO FINISH PRIMER (MINI) £12.50 (REGUALR) £25 vs L’OREAL PARIS INFALLIBLE MATTIFYING BASE approx. £6.99

This is a no-brainer! Even the packaging of these primers are almost identical and it is even more impressive that the product inside is too! Both of these have similar, smooth textures which, when moisturised into the “T” zone before applying foundation, smooth’s out any fine lines and keeps your makeup in place all day/night long!

4. MAC MINERALIZE EYE SHADOW X4 A GLIMMER OF GOLD £33 vs RIMMEL GLAM EYES QUAD EYE SHADOW £6.99

These pallets have the perfect colours to create an alternative, shimmery smokey eye. The four shades shades will look amazing on any eye colour and can be used as one single colour or blended to give a gradient effect.  They are super blendable, however due to the MAC shadows being backed they require application with a damp makeup brush if you wish to have a more intense effect. However, the Rimmel Glam Eyes shadows only require a couple of strokes and your good to go! The palette is so durable as well, I’ve had mines for ages now! It is a real must have in my opinion and at only £6.99, wow!!
