Gamma Phi Beta Presents “Skate for Strong Girls” this Friday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

The sisters of Gamma Phi Beta invite you to join them for ice skating at the Walter Brown Arena on this Friday, April 3rd, from 6-8pm. Skate for Strong Girls is the perfect opportunity to show off your skating skills or get some hilarious pictures of your friends attempting to skate (two words: snapchat stories). Either way, this is sure to be a fun event for a great cause!

Skate for Strong Girls supports GPhiB’s philanthropic mission of building strong girls, and all proceeds will go to their national philanthropic partner Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run is an after school program, teaching girls confidence and self-esteem in addition to running skills for their national 5k. Each group is given a coach, providing role models for these girls during a key developmental stage.  If you ever had an awkward middle school phase (just admit it’s true), then you realize the importance of an inspirational woman in a girl’s life to prove there’s a light at the end of the tunnel (a.k.a. a life without braces).

Tickets can be purchased in cash at the door for $10 each; this price includes skates. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 each or $3 for 5 tickets. Prizes include a free month of CorePower yoga, gourmet meals, and more! The event features a free skate and a special performance by the BU figure skating team at 7pm. In addition, the first 100 guests will receive a free week of yoga! The girls of Gamma Phi are excited to have the BU community’s support on Friday night. Please join them on the ice!
