To celebrate the 375th birthday of the University of Helsinki, SUB, Setenta, and Rupla (the student associations for English, Ibero-Romance languages, and Russian, respectively) organised a pop-up cafe in Uusi Ylioppilastalo, New Student Building, last Saturday.

Everyone is eagerly waiting for a proper cat cafe to open in Helsinki so even though this student-run popup didn’t have actual cats, the cat themed menus and adverts were a nice touch. Because what’s better than cute cats and a cup of hot coffee?

The baked goods were made as a team effort by students from the three organisations and the cafe also served tea and coffee at reasonable prices. All the sweet and savoury things on the menu looked so good that it was tempting to have one of everything…

And climbing all the way to the fifth floor of Uusi Ylioppilastalo in order to get to the cafe may have been a bit too much of a workout, but the view across the rooftops of central Helsinki was worth it despite the grey weather.
