Ā Meet the soccer-playing sweetheart Danny Bartok, Seton Hallās FIRST Campus Cutie!Ā
Ā
HC (Her Campus): Whatās your favorite part about Seton Hall?
DB (Danny Bartok): āI like that itās small. Iām always seeing familiar faces and havingĀ
conversations all around campus, but I have to say my favorite part is playing soccer here.ā
Ā
HC: What about soccer do you like?Ā
DB: āWell my grandfather used to be the coach here when I was little so I was always aroundĀ
soccer, and when the opportunity came to play here there was really nowhere else I wanted to be.Ā
And now I get to travel the country, spend time with my best friends and play the sport I love so itĀ
really couldnāt get any better.ā
Ā
HC: How has being on the soccer team fit into your life when it comes to dating?Ā
DB: āWell weāre really close with other athletes, and Iām definitely interested in an athletic girl. IĀ
like to be active and want to share that with any girl Iām with.ā
Ā
HC: What do you look for in a girl?Ā
DB: āHonestly I really donāt have a certain ātype.ā Iām open to anything. But some essentialsĀ
would be nice. A girl whoās respectful, thatās big for me, and someone whoās active and enjoysĀ
sports also. If sheās attractive, thatās of course a plus. Truly, just someone I can enjoy myself withĀ
and be myself around.ā
Ā
HC: Whatās your biggest turn off for a girl?Ā
DB: āSmoking ā without a doubt grossest thing anyone could do.ā
Ā
HC: Whatās your favorite part about Seton Hall girls?Ā
DB: āI think the best part is that a lot are local. Being from New Jersey, the long distanceĀ
relationship thing isnāt really an issue, which is big because obviously I would want to seeĀ
someone Iām in a relationship with more times than not. And I mean LDRās are not fun.ā
Ā
HC: Whatās your signature pick-up line?Ā
DB: āIām not someone who really approaches very much. Iām kind of a more laid-back,Ā
background kind of guy. Honestly Iām the kind of person who ends up dating friends. I like toĀ
get to know them first and then if things start to change I see what happens. But thatās about it. IĀ
wouldnāt say Iām a āpick-up lineā kind of guy.ā
Ā
HC: What was your worst experience on a date?Ā
DB: āOh my goodness, can we come back to this one? Well I went on a date and it was a groupĀ
date and unknowingly my friendās date brought a friend that I used to date. So predictably it wasĀ
really awkward and my best friend, being the jokester that he is, made it very clear that he wasĀ
going to sit on the far side of the seats with his girl next to him and I was going to be split inĀ
between my ex and my current date. It was very very awkward and uncomfortable, but Iām stillĀ
friends with both girls so it was okay. But I am hoping it never happens again.ā
Ā
HC: Whatās been the biggest difference youāve noticed when it comes to how you dated inĀ
high school and how you have in college?Ā
DB: āIn high school I was the follower. I just kind of talked to whoever people thought wereĀ
pretty. Now, Iāve looked to other aspects of girls outside of just an appearance. I mean they canĀ
be as beautiful as beautiful gets, but if theyāre not a good person then itās not really worth it soĀ
now I try to know who the girl really is.ā
Ā
HC: Did you date a lot in high school?Ā
DB: āI didnāt really. It always seemed that once it was actually about to happen I was like āOh doĀ
I really want this?ā and any time I did it never lasted too long. I was just looking for the wrongĀ
things.ā
Ā
HC: Whatās your typical weekend in South Orange?Ā
DB: āWell now that Iām 21 I usually go out a little more. I would say a weekend would probablyĀ
start by hanging out with my teammates at our house early on and then going to Hoboken or theĀ
City. Iām really kind of over house parties at this point. I want to open myself up to meeting moreĀ
people in different areas.ā
Ā
HC: What are three things you canāt live without?Ā
DB: āFood, and I mean that in more than just the basic necessity aspect. If you ask any of myĀ
friends, theyāll all say thereās few people who can eat more than me. Secondly, family and friendsĀ
because even when times are rough and games arenāt going how they should, thereās people inĀ
my life that are always there, which is huge. Lastly, Iād have to say soccer. It was a part of my lifeĀ
since I can remember and has played such a large role that I couldnāt ever see it not being a partĀ
of me.ā
Ā
HC: What are three things you want to do before you graduate from Seton Hall?Ā
DB: āObviously I donāt want to rush it, but maybe meet that āspecial someone.ā Definitely wantĀ
to be successful in soccer; bringing a title back to the school would really mean a lot to me. TheĀ
third would be to meet people and make friends that will last a lifetime, really just to evolve intoĀ
the person I want to be for the rest of my life.ā
Ā
HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?Ā
DB: āWorking, doing something I love and coming home to someone I love, thatād be nice. JustĀ
having someone who I can be myself around and definitely living somewhere warm. Iām doneĀ
dealing with northeast winters. Also, traveling with family, friends and hopefully my wife.ā
Ā
HC: Whatās one piece of dating of advice you would give to the newcomers at Seton Hall?Ā
DB: āI mean Iām single so obviously I havenāt had it work out yet. But, definitely take it slow;
really get to know the person before you get involved because sometimes it doesnāt end well. ButĀ
honestly, just make sure you do what makes you happy.ā
