The Top 7 Fashion Trends For 2015

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

2015 is underway, and let’s just say there are a few fashion trend you don’t want to miss out on.

1. Floppy hats.

I personally have fell in love with this trend this year. You can put a floppy hat with anything and instantly make a look more dramatic. Not only are floppy hats good for a bad hair day but also a great fashion statement with little to no effort at all. Not to mention they are perfect for the winter, spring, summer and fall!

2. Boyfriend jeans.

Yes, its time — time to let go of the leggings and skinny jeans and let some air in! There is nothing more comfortable than boyfriend jeans and a crop top for the summer, or boyfriend jeans paired with a blouse to add some flare. They not only create a style of comfort, but you can also be dressed up with a pair of heels to give an effortless urban chic ensemble.

3. Stripes.

I know I may be pushing it with stripes. But yes, I truly believe stripes are making a comeback. The simpler the better — trust me! Paired with a pop of color or just a baseline color, you are making whatever you’re wearing stand out simply by wearing the basics.

4. Denim on denim.

This has got to be one of my favorite trends right now. Denim is a must for this year. With endless possibilities, you are sure to make a statement. I don’t think I’ve seen a combination that hasn’t caught my eye!

5. Denim and leather.

I am known to match these two together, and every time I get a compliment. This is truly an effortless look. From boyfriend jeans to skinny jeans or even a denim button up, you can pull off a look that is sure to be simple yet put together — even on a lazy day! Just grab a leather bag or throw on a leather jacket. It’s that easy!

6. Turtlenecks.

Yes, they are making a comeback, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. This past fall I got a little “turtleneck happy” and rocked all kinds of outfits. From casual to professional, you can style turtlenecks to fit your need and style. Not to mention how warm and fashionable you’ll be!

7. Thigh-high boots.

“These boots were made for walking…” Forgive me for the corny introduction, but if only you know the trouble thigh-high boots could create, you’ll let it pass. Have you ever wanted to make a bland look more dramatic or even make your legs look longer? Then complete your outfit with a pair of thigh-highs to literally give life to your look. You can never be too dramatic! They can be paired for the winter, or give a little skin in fall and early months of spring to spice up the look.

These are just a few trends for the start of 2015, and believe it or not some of these pieces are floating around in your closet! Bring life into your wardrobe this year and make a statement.
