Well, what would our lives be if we didn’t get our daily fix of Kardashian gossip and scandal? If anything gained more publicity than Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding last year it was most definitely the speculation around lil sis Kylie Jenner’s lips in her renowned Instagram selfies! The big question, ARE THEY REAL OR FAKE? Well from our research here, we have concluded that they are FAKE, and you can achieve a look similar at home if you follow the correct steps and don’t end up looking like a clown (soz but let’s be honest here!)
REAL or FAKE? Our argument that they are real…1) Yes, okay, agreed! It does look like she has undergone some plastic surgery from the change in these before and after snaps, however she insists it is the power of makeup! As quoted in one episode of KUWTK, it undeniably takes her around 40 minutes to perfect her lips! WOW! After watching countless YouTube gurus videos on how to achieve the ‘Kylie Look’ it is obvious it takes some time to get the proportions exact! My favourites would have to be Pixiewoo, founders of the renowned makeup brush brand Real Techniques who prove outdrawing your lips to give the perfect pout can look effective and mock the look of lip fillers without experiencing the pain. However, it is important that you draw them to suit your face shape, the rule ‘ the bigger the better’ most certainly does not apply here, simply using a darker lip liner on the outer part of your lips and a lighter shade in the centre will give a similar illusion without looking too extreme. Secondly, I love Desi Perkins take on the Kylie J lip trend! She recommends outdrawing the outer parts of your lips and slightly on the cupids bow but avoid outlining the bottom lip as this can look the most unnatural and in effect gives the ugly ‘painted on’ look! THE VERDICT! What colour does Kylie use??
MAC lip liners are a bit pricey compared to drugstore brands, however they are a good investment and priced between £10 and £20 they aren’t going to break the bank!
It is reported that Kylie uses a range of shades from MAC, mostly brown toned nudes. Firstly SOAR which is my personal favourite, WHIRL, and SPICE. These should be essential items in any girl’s makeup bag, they instantly make an outfit look more fashionable, they are bendable and buildable so light strokes allow the perfect look to be achieved even if you don’t have amazing skills!
