For this week’s Campus Cutie, we decided to get back in touch with a former Campus Cutie, Eve Farber.
Recently, JSwipe, a Jewish dating app, began their own version of March Madness and compiled a bracket of their most-matched users. Eve has become what some might call a “nationwide cutie.” In the past couple of weeks, she has made it onto JSwipe’s bracket and is now one of the top eight most-matched users on the app. As a result she is in the running for a chance to win tickets to the 2015 Governor’s Ball!
We thought it would be fun to ask Eve a little bit about JSwipe, the competition, and some of the reasons she thinks she is one of JSwipe’s most sought after members.
1. When did you start using JSwipe?
I started using JSwipe over Jterm. A lot of my friends use Tindr, so I decided to try out JSwipe for fun.
2. Have you ever gone on a date with anyone you met on the app?
I haven’t gone out with anyone from the app, not many people in the area have the app.
3. Did you know JSwipe was going to be having a March Madness event?
I had no idea.
4. How did you find out about JSwipe’s March Madness?
I went to NYC during spring break and I started to use the app a lot because for the first time, I wasn’t running out of people in the area. The following week, a woman contacted me over Facebook, told me I was one of the top 100 people who had the most matches in the country, and was then entered into a contest with 15 other JSwipe users.
5. Have you changed your JSwipe usage since the competition began?
Yes. I knew that in order for me to even be able to compete, I would have to expand the radius of Jswipe users to the max because there aren’t enough people in the area. I also expanded the age range of people I could possibly match with. Because you win based on the number of people you match with, I basically started swiping right to everyone unless they seemed creepy.
6. What do you think is the key to your success in this competition so far?
Swiping right on almost everyone and expanding the search range.
7. If you win, will you be bringing a date to the Governor’s Ball?
If I win and get to bring a date, I would probably bring my sister. She went to the concert last year and had an amazing time, and I know I would have a lot of fun with her.
8. What do you look for in someone’s profile when you decide to “swipe right?”
Before the competition started, I was way more selective. I would look at their ‘about me’ section, and usually swiped right if they had something funny.
9. What are some of the things that make you “swipe left?”
If someone doesn’t have a picture of themselves or if they have foul language in their ‘about me’ section or something creepy/sexist.
10. What is one of the strangest things you have seen on someone’s profile on JSwipe?
I can’t think of any strange things on someone’s profile, but I have definitely received a lot of funny messages. A few people have asked if they could be my “Adam.”
11. Would you recommend the app to others?
Yeah, a lot of the people seem really nice. I had Tindr for a little bit, and from my experience, I have found that there are fewer creeps on JSwipe.
**Update: As of April 7th, Eve has officially won the competition with 145 matches!
