So, it’s finally April. This means that the cold weather and snow should be behind us right? Unfortunately, Notre Dame is in a lovely place called South Bend, Indiana, and we are constantly under a blanket of clouds. However, there are a few promising signs that spring is approaching. Here’s what to be on the lookout for around campus.

Rain. While we can’t escape the permacloud just yet, at least it’s rain instead of snow! It’s time to break out those rain boots and umbrellas because the puddles on campus are no joke. The last thing you want is to be sitting in class sopping wet because you forgot your umbrella. Don’t fall prey to the unpredictable weather.

Birds chirping. Birds chirping in the morning can be a menace, but it’s a sign that warmer weather is right around the corner. My favorite kind of bird is the “cheeseburger bird.” Seriously, watch this video and then you won’t be able to think of anything else when you hear them chirp.
Flowers blooming. This is my favorite part of spring. Watching plants grow from one day to the next is fascinating and kind of like magic. Notre Dame does a great job with the planting and upkeep of flowers. Make sure you take some time to appreciate the natural beauty on campus this spring.

Roller Coaster Temperatures. One day it’s almost seventy degrees and the next it’s a chilly forty. Come on South Bend, please be consistent with the temperatures. It’s a good sign when the ratio of warm days per week is greater than the cold days. Hopefully one of those weeks will arrive soon.

Keep your eyes open for these signs of spring and get motivated for the final stretch of the school year! Don’t forget to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather when it makes an appearance!

Hey everyone! I love to write and cry over episodes of One Tree Hill (don't judge). My favorite things to write about are fashion and music. I am definitely an animal and plant lover. I'm a South Bend native so in a way, Notre Dame has always been a part of my home.
