If you’re a big Gilmore Girls fan, you know all about Rory’s best frenemy (who, later we will admit, becomes endearing and cherished in her own way) Paris Geller. You probably started off the series hating her, then, eventually, tolerated her, and even appreciated some of her little quirks – sometimes.
While we wanted to be intelligent, kind Rory Gilmore, face it: college has made us all into Paris. And, now that we’re a bit older and wiser, we might be okay with that.
1. In high school, you always got plenty of sleep, so waking up wasn’t too terrible. In fact, you were even a little bit excited to see what new drama awaited you that day.
Now, when your roommate wakes you up so you can walk to your 8am together, you’re pretty sure you hate her.Â
2. You used to always wear the same things on rotation at school, so what was there to worry about? Whether it was your uniform or your favorite pair of jeans, your closet staples always had you covered.
But, as a big college girl, you have to have a fantastic wardrobe that somehow balances the seductiveness of a college night out and the demure, smart business side. What is business casual anyway?!
3. Before, it was in your best interest to try to make friends with anyone and everyone. No one can ever have too many friends right?
You realize, in college, you don’t feel obligated to be nice to everyone all the time.
4. Dating was hard.
Okay, dating is still hard.
5. Navigating relationships were tricky and filled up at least 60% of your waking thoughts.
But you’re very upfront and honest with your casual hookups, now that you know what you want.
6. In high school, you wore your heart on your sleeve and your face was an open book.
Here at college, you’re eloquent and speak your mind.
7. You at least thought about going out when you found yourself at home, hanging out with the rents, during the weekend.
Now, you may not know all the latest teen slang or trends, but you’ve made peace with it.
8. You’ve always worked your hardest in everything you do…
And, all in all, you still want your life to go somewhere, and you’re going to push yourself until you get there.
Be proud of yourself, Paris Gellers of the collegiette world. You may be sassy, a little rough around the edges, but everyone loves your company (I mean Rory kept her as a roommate and friend for how long?). And, besides, your big personality keeps things interesting around here.
