3 Simple Beauty Tips to Refresh Your Look for Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at McGill chapter.

Spring has finally arrived! It’s time to ditch the parka and boots in favor of a trench coat and Hunters. To ease the transition, we’ve rounded up some of the top beauty trends for spring, just in time to look alive and fake the well-rested look for finals.

1. Barely-there Bronze

Now that it’s sunny, you can take advantage of a bit of added bronzer. A slight bronzed glow is an essential in looking well rested. To attain goddess-level sunniness, this look requires starting from within: meaning it’s important to drink lots of water and moisturize well. Now that we’ve kissed winter’s winds goodbye, opt for a light tinted moisturizer locked in place with light powder instead of a heavy foundation. Once you have a light, even base, smile and apply bronzer with the tip of a big, fluffy brush where the sun would kiss your face.

2. Easy on the Eyes

Gucci Spring 2015

On spring runways, designer Diane Von Furstenberg featured charcoal smoky eyes, while Gucci showcased taupe shadow. To celebrate the arrival of spring, designed shied away from black in favor of a softer palette. To make the look work for you, line your upper lash line with a pencil or gel so it lasts. On your bottom lash line, however, opt for a brown or not-quite-black powder rather than a liner. It’s less harsh and will make your eyes seem more open. Dab a white, shimmery shadow in the inner corner of your eyes and you’ll look as though you spent last night wrapped in a fluffy duvet rather than in McLennan.

3. Bright Eyed & Balmy Lipped

Fendi Spring 2015

When you’re tired, bright lips wash you out, while dark lips draw attention to other dark spots on your face (ahem, your under eyes). Stick to your natural lip color by applying a generous amount of balm. If you’re hankering to wear spring brights today, take a cue from Fendi’s spring runway. Though the makeup artist used a thin slice of blue fabric above a sleek, liquid-lined upper lash, you can get the same look with a pencil and an eye primer so it stays well-put. To be sure that your undereyes don’t steal the spotlight, depuff them with a free, easy and spa-inspired trick. Throw a spoon into the freezer for a few minutes and use the cool metal for an instant refresher. While you have your eyes closed, feel free to fantasize about OAP or your post-finals plans.
