5 Reasons to Be Excited About the Rest of the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

It’s crazy to think that there are only three full weeks of classes left here at Binghamton and then one week of finals before three months of summer internships, vacations, and adventures with friends and family. However, before we can look forward to summer and all it has to offer, we still have a few more weeks to get through class, final papers, projects, and exams, and trying to avoid spring fever for the sake of our GPA’s. It is important though to make some time for ourselves though and to enjoy spring activities to keep stress levels down and sanity in check so we’ve compiled a list of five spring things to be excited for and help push us through the rest of us school.

Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration

Thursday April 23rd is Yom Ha’atzmaut- Israel’s Independence Day! You don’t have to be in Israel to enjoy this special day or be Jewish to enjoy the amazing Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration right here on campus. The event will feature carnival games, live music, and delicious Israeli foods such as falafel and schwarma. No need to sign up for the event in advance, just bring your friends out to thr Peace Quad and enjoy a fun event celebrating a special day!

Relay for Life

A fun event raising money for a good cause is the ultimate win-win. Friday April 24th, Relay for Life is happening at Binghamton University. The 12-hour event will be taking place from 5 PM- 5 AM at the Events Center. Bring your friends and join your peers for as short or as long as you’d like and enjoy a fun night raising money for the American Cancer Society and fighting against cancer. Can’t make it to the event? You can still donate! Check out the link below for more info and to donate to this amazing cause!

Spring Fling

We of course can’t leave out one of the most amazing days of the year here on campus- Spring Fling of course! It seems that we’ve been awaiting this day all semester but now it’s just less than two weeks away and we can’t wait for the morning of Saturday May 2nd to roll around! For those of you who have never been to or seen Spring Fling before, get ready to have some fun, and to soon see carnival rides and games decking out the spine on your walk to class as preparation for Spring Fling starts early. Carnival games, rides, food, a free concert, and free giveaways are just some of the things that Spring Fling boasts and offers students. While some games and rides require money, there are plenty of free things to enjoy too. The Student Association is known for hosting free giveaways on a first come-first serve basis each year, and you can enjoy other free things such as air brush-tattoos and of course the free concert outside Student Wing.

Bar Crawl

Think Parade Day but summer edition! Falling on Thursday of finals week each year, students enjoy this day to spend time with their friends one last time before going home for the summer. It’s near the end of finals week and other than packing up dorm and apartment rooms to head home, students are pretty much done with their school-related responsibilities to head down for one last hoorah on State Street. Of course, enjoy this event safely and responsibly but don’t be afraid to let your hair down and let loose- after all, you just made it through one more year of college.
