10 Corvallis Spring Date Ideas for Oregon State Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OR State chapter.

Corvallis is a smaller city, and sometimes it can feel like you’re running out of fun date ideas. Spring is here and the weather is getting nicer, so it’s time to get out and explore everything Corvallis has to offer! Here are 10 different ideas that you and your special someone can try out.

1. Walk around downtown.

It took my two years of going to school at Oregon State before I discovered downtown. If it’s a nice, sunny day, go for a walk, check out some stores, and enjoy the scenery!

2. Picnic at a park,

There are many parks around town, so pack up a lunch at home and head to a park such as Avery Park, or go downtown on the waterfront and enjoy some lunch in the sun.

3. Grab some ice cream.

Grab ice cream or gelato from your favorite place and walk around and enjoy the weather! We always have the classic Baskin Robins and Coldstone Creamery to fall back on, but if you’re looking for something local try out Francesco’s Gelato downtown!

4. Crowbar rooftop.

One of my favorite places to go when it starts to get nice outside is the Crowbar rooftop. You can enjoy the sunshine or the stars while enjoying a slice of pizza, and, if you’re of age, a delicious cocktail

5. Go for a hike.

Enjoy a morning together while you go hiking at Mary’s peak or Bald Hill. You could even pack a simple breakfast or lunch and eat with the beautiful scenery in the background.

6. Go to the Farmer’s Market.

Every Saturday and Wednesday from 9am-1pm Corvallis has a great Farmer’s Market downtown on 1st and Jackson. This is fun to walk and buy fruits, veggies, flowers and many other great products! They are currently open weekly until November 25th!

7. Try new restaurants.

There are many restaurants that I have recently discovered and that I’ve learned to love. While you’re here in the spring, you should take chances and try new places. You never know, you may find your new favorite restaurant!

8. Beaver Baseball games.

As students, you get free tickets to the baseball games. These are great for dates, especially once it gets nice outside. Plus — why wouldn’t you want to support your Beavers?!

9. Find something you have in common .

My boyfriend and I love our beer, so we started trying out different places around town that are known for their beers; now we are always on the lookout for restaurants that are serving our favorite brews!

We also both love McMinamen’s, so we got each other the McMinamen’s Passports (booklets that get you prizes when you visit more McMinamen’s or if you try out their products) so we are always looking for different ways we can get stamps in those Passports.

Having brunch on the weekends is also a must for us. We have found a couple of places that we love, but it’s also fun for us to try new restaurants out to give us more variety, and we tend to find more and more places that we really enjoy!

 10. Check out the calendar.

The city of Corvallis has a calendar of all sorts of events that are taking place. Check out the link to see if there is anything coming up that you and your special someone may want to try out together!

We hope this list gives you some great date ideas for this spring season! Have any favorites we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
