The art of upcycling.
Dictionary.com defines upcycling as a verb, to process used goods or waste materials so as to produce something that is often better than the original. From jeans to light bulbs to furniture, everything old can be turned into something new and improved. Paint is going to be your best friend in this endeavor followed only by mod podge.
Put those mason jars and empty wine bottles to use.
Do you have any idea how expensive vases are? What about candleholders? Have you seen the amount of things that you can do with a mason jar? It’s so simple, so rustic and so hipster. Embrace it.
Ask your friends and family.
That old couch that’s been sitting in your uncle’s storage unit for the past few years? The vanity that’s sitting in the closet in your parents’ basement? Your neighbors’ plate set that they were gonna throw out? Your senior friend’s moving to a different state and can’t take all their stuff with them? TAKE IT. Just ask. You’d be surprised at how much free stuff you can get by just asking. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
