Campus Cutie: Dennis Humenn

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

Name: Dennis Humenn

Year: Sophomore

Major: Communications with a Concentration in Advertising and PR

Hometown: New City, New York

HC: What can you tell us about the Humarists? What’s it like being one?

DH: We’re the improv sketch comedy group on campus. It’s nice knowing I’m one of the seven funniest people at Marist (smirks), but it’s weird that people sometimes know who I am. It’s uncomfortable, like one time I had an awkward conversation with someone in an elevator. It’s like if you’re on a sports team and someone comes up to you and starts saying “Oh my god, you play soccer?” I guess after a show it’s different, it’s cool, but when it happens randomly it’s a little odd.

HC: Why did you try out freshman year?

DH: I picked up a flyer and thought it was interesting but I didn’t have any prior experience. I thought it was a club, I didn’t think it was a group, but some random guy on the ultimate Frisbee team told me it was something you had to try out for, but that was a week before workshops [tryouts]. So the night of, I was on the phone with my dad and he was like “What are you doing tonight?” and I said, “I don’t know, I might go to these tryouts” and he was like, “What would you be doing if you didn’t go?” and I said that I’d probably just be sitting there doing nothing and he was like, “Well then what do you have to lose?” and I realized he was right.

HC: Have you done improv comedy or anything similar before?

DH: No, I was gonna do it in my high school but it was really lame. So that’s how you know our shows are great.

HC: What is your favorite Marist memory?

DH: I’m still trying to figure this out, but this brownie is up there right now – top 5 at least. Uhh, but for real I’d probably say when my friend got a golf cart because she tore 5 ligaments in her foot and we drove it to the off-campus Starbucks because I love Starbucks. I’m a gold star member.

HC: What’s your favorite thing to order from the Cabaret?

DH: That’s easy. Chicken strips 5-piece. People who get the 3-piece are weaklings. The only thing that rivals it is the spicy Italian sandwich.

HC: What’s your favorite pick-up line?

DH: Is there a magnet in your pants because I’m attracted to your buns of steel.
