Fun Ways to Change Up Your Hair This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Summer break is the perfect time to get a little daring with your image and what better way to try out an exciting summer makeover than by revamping your hairstyle? If you’ve been resorting to the exact same bun or ponytail look for what feels like forever than now’s your opportunity to get adventurous and get yourself to a salon!

1.     Chop it off!

As the weather gets hotter what better way to cool off and shake up your look than by trying out a shorter style?  Not only will cutting off the extra length make you feel cooler and refreshed, it’s any easy way to add a new edge to your normal appearance. For those of us too nervous about committing to a full pixie cut, I recommend trying out a wavy, choppy bob that falls right above the shoulders like Lucy Hale’s new ‘do’. Your head will feel lighter and you’ll look like a total rock star.

2.     Ditch the Heat!

If you’re always reaching for the straightener or curling iron in the morning, give your hair it’s own vacation by embracing your natural texture. Too many styling tools can dry out and damage hair, especially if you plan on doing a lot of swimming this summer. Natural curls and waves are a perfect carefree, casual look for any beach babe. And as a bonus, all that extra time you would have spent styling in front of a mirror can now be spent making memories with friends!

3.     Lighten Up!

Take the gift of the sun’s natural highlights a step further by lightening up your locks a few shades to add in some new dimensions to your one tone look. Adding some highlights, especially in the strands framing your face, will brighten up your entire image and give your skin a gorgeous, healthy glow.

So don’t be shy to experiment in the stylist’s chair, and you’ll be sure to turn some heads down by the boardwalk this summer!
