A university-wide email sent Tuesday afternoon announced a new game day safety policy prohibiting purses from being brought into Gerald J. Ford stadium.

“The only bags permitted will be those made of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC which do not exceed 12-by-6-by-12 inches, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc or similar), or small clutch bags (about the size of a hand) with or without a strap,” the email read.

The policy is based on one by the NFL, and one that other universities, including Penn State and Rutgers University, have adopted.

You’ll probably opt for the clear “small clutch bags,” (no freezer bags for you). Nevertheless your first reaction to this was probably “um, plastic doesn’t go with my outfit for Friday.” Never fear, check out some of these chic options you can carry into each football game.

Other items prohibited in the stadium include backpacks, coolers, fanny packs, diaper bags, cinch bags, camera bags and briefcases. It might be staggering style news, but we can all embrace a little change in the name of campus saftey.
