Typically when one thinks of selflessly devoting their time and effort to something, it is more thought of as some kind of volunteer work; not a daily devotion. Mitchell Phelps, Student Government Treasurer, does just that. Phelps is a third-year here at UC and currently deeply involved in his co-op. Not only is he an active and crucial member of the student government, but he lends his time to several other organizations. His eagerness to make a difference in other peoples’ lives is the driving force behind all that he does. Read below to see where you can see him in action.

What made you choose The University of Cincinnati? The campus is absolutely beautiful and the university is connected to a strong city.
What organizations are you a part of? What made you want to join them?
- Student Government – I love to serve the community in a large way and use my personal ability to be an advocate for students.
- Mr. Kuamka (Out of the AACRC) – Essentially I am a representative for the AACRC and the black community. I began as a first-year in the Transitions programs out of the AACRC which connects students with upperclassmen mentors. Then I simply stayed connected to the AACRC through various clubs and then decided to run for Mr. Kuamka. It is an honor to serve the black community in this capacity. I am passionate about my platform to help create well rounded and well-experienced black men.
- Business Fellows – I have a strong desire to grow with future minority business leaders.
- Residential Advisor – I feel that I play a pivotal role as one of the first individuals an incoming student gains a relationship with. I advise a floor with mainly first year men so my hope is that I am able to inspire these men to thrive academically and grow as grounded individuals.
