Top Five Spots At MMC To Cry

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MMM chapter.

We’re back! And while it was very nice of Carol Jackson & Co. to start school the week before a three-day-weekend, we’ll be getting back into the swing of things soon. Eventually, we all are going to have to cry at school. As a senior, I now have three years of experience under my belt, and would love to share my favorite crying spots with you!

In Front of the Waterfall on the Terrace

Before Jud left us, he had MMC build him a clubhouse. Included in the clubhouse, a lovely waterfall. There are rumors that I started that the water from the waterfall is actually made from MMC student tears, so it’s the perfect place to cry!

Pros: You can blame your wet face on sitting too close to the waterfall

Cons: There are a lot of people out on the terrace this time of year, so they might try and talk to you.

Editing Rooms

This is my personal favorite place to cry at school, and also the place I can most frequently be seen crying. The Rose and Green rooms on the 5th floor Nugent are definitely better than the Jade Room in the library (all those windows! ugh!), but any of these rooms is a great choice.

Pros: It’s strange to see people in those rooms who aren’t crying.

Cons: It’s pretty difficult to get into the rooms if you aren’t in a production class or aren’t a comm student, although not impossible.

Starbucks Bathroom

This bathroom is probably one of my favorite spots on campus. So many people don’t know it exists, which guarantees that it’s significantly cleaner than the regular bathrooms in the hallway behind it.

Pros: Most people forget that it’s even there

Cons: If you’re worried about people thinking you’re doing something a little smellier in the bathroom, this is not the crying place for you.

Anywhere near the Theresa Lang Theatre

Maybe don’t cry right in that main hallway that connects Nugent and Main, but right around the corner is a perfect spot to let out a quick cry. Definitely not the place for a long cry or a sob, but it does the job.

Pro: You can blame your tears on acting class

Con: Another high traffic area. You’re almost certain to have a tour group witness your tears.

CWC

This is serious and not a joke. Go to the CWC. Everyone up there is nice and you aren’t going to get free counseling anywhere when you graduate. I don’t know anyone whose life got worse after going to the CWC, myself included. They even have walk-in hours so you have no excuse.

Pro: The only crying spot on campus with professionally trained people to help out.

Con: Sometimes it’s difficult to get an appointment to fit your schedule.
