You Are a Nugget: Tips for College

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

First things first, the introduction. My name is Brooke, I’m a Communications major and I am new to Her Campus. YOU are a nugget. Yes, that’s right. In this inspirational, motivational, tip giving blog you will often be referred to as some form of a nugget. I promise it’s a compliment.

Here are a few things that EVERYONE at Le Moyne needs to know to survive:

1.   Find a study spot

Due to the smallness of our school, the chances of you seeing someone you know and getting caught up in a conversation are really high. With papers due and long chapters, ain’t nobody got time for that. Find a little nook somewhere and use it to your advantage. We have plenty of them!

2.   Make acquaintances in your classes

Now, I’m not saying you have to meet at The Den every Friday for lunch, but make sure you get to know at least one of your classmates. It can be difficult to sit in a classroom full of strangers and feel comfortable voicing your opinion. It can also be difficult to sit in a classroom of strangers when a surprise group assignment is given. Not to mention, the chances you’ll miss one class are 50/50 and it’s a saving grace to have someone other than the professor to ask for homework.

3.   There is no need to be embarrassed by the Wellness Center

They are there for a reason and more people use it than you would think. Sometimes, stuff is going to be too big for you to handle alone and that’s ok. No one is going to judge you for getting yourself help. In fact, they don’t even have to know you are! Use it when you need to and if you don’t need it, you just might have this life thing figured out.

4.   If all else fails, Dunkin

Le Moyne has the luxury of a Dunkin Donuts being right on campus. If you’re feeling the caffeine plummet or if you just need a little snack, treat yourself! No cash needed if you have Dolphy dollars on your card!

That’s all for now. I hope we’ll be seeing a lot more of each other this semester!
