I had the pleasure of reviewing Andra Day’s new album titled, Cheers to the Fall. If you don’t know about Andra Day, then you should definitely check her out!
After a few viral YouTube cover videos, Andra has taken the music industry by storm with her soulful tunes. If you like R&B Andra is your girl. With a mix of thirteen upbeat and slow but steady songs there is a song on this album for everyone.
The first song “Forever Mine” sets up the whole tone of the album with a slight upbeat and guitar. Her lyrics capture what every aching heart feels. Not only is this song relatable but it’s skillfully produced.
I listened to this album in one sitting and didn’t even notice the changing of the songs, because of how effortlessly they switch.
“Goodbye Goodnight” has lyrics that compare to Adele. Not only is the music produced well, the lyrics are written well and make the album that more enjoyable.
Andra Day is sure to have a career as successful as her predecessors with a smooth Billie Holiday voice and an Amy Winehouse lyric style she is sure to cater to a wide audience.
