10 Things We Always Say at the Beginning of Every Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Case chapter.

The very beginning of a semester is always promising.  We always tell ourselves positive sayings (which we may or may not have stolen from motivational pages on Instagram), put on our brightest smiles, and head to classes with the best of hope…

Until the first round of tests and papers comes along.  Take a look at some of our favorite (and sometimes way too ambitious) sayings we tell ourselves as we crack open our textbooks for the very first time.

1. “I’m totally going to work out more this semester.”

Sure…

2. “I’m going to start wearing jeans more often.”

Until those leggings start calling your name…

3. “I promise I’m going to do every single reading for this class.”

Such good intentions, but then…

4. “I’m going to wake up early and put some effort into my look all the time.”

Until you oversleep, of course…

5. “I’m going to start going to bed earlier.”

Until it’s 12am and you still haven’t studied for your test the next morning,,,

6. “I’m definitely going to save more money this semester.”

Then halfway through the semester…

7. “I’m not going to let myself get distracted by Netflix.”

Mhmm…

8. “I’m going to spend a lot more time in KSL throughout the semester.”

Lol…

9. “I’m going to try to be more involved and join more clubs.”

Until you realize you don’t really want to leave your room…

10. “I’m totally going to work on being an actual adult.”

Yeahhhh…
