Why Amy Poehler Deserved to Win That Emmy

When Parks and Recreation ended a few months ago, we thought we’d never feel that kind of unbearable sadness again. Boy, were we wrong! Because Amy Poehler just lost out on her final chance to win an Emmy for her role as Leslie Knope.

Over the course of the last six years, we’ve seen Amy nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and for six years now, we’ve seen her passed over. And while we believe Julia Louis-Dreyfus was more than deserving of her win tonight, this was the year to give it up for Amy. Why? Because Leslie Knope is no more, and we just can’t deal if not even our favorite girl boss can be honored for her amazingness. Not to mention that this loss makes the end of Parks and Rec all the more real, a fact we’re still not ready to address yet.

We’re stoked that this category was basically like girl power central. Well, how could it not be? But with Lisa Kudrow, Amy Schumer, Edie Falco and Lily Tomlin making up the rest of the impressive list of nominees, we understand that it was a rather tight race. Given that this was Amy’s last opportunity to receive the accolade that Leslie Knope so totally deserves is utter heartbreak. Talk about a snub!

Sure, Amy sat there in her hoodie and sunglasses like the ultimate classy lady she is. (We mean, how did she even know that’s what we’re wearing at home?) We guess Amy doesn’t have it so bad. After all, she did steal the show early on by presenting with fellow comedienne and the woman who consistently gives us all the goals, Amy Schumer. But we’re with Leslie Knope on this one; we’re ready to rip some throats out, and there are definitely hard feelings.

Do you think Amy Poehler was majorly snubbed, collegiettes?
