5 Things SCAD Savannah Students Hate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD chapter.

With school officially back in full swing, it is safe to say you’ve missed somethings about Savannah. However, there are probably some other things you have not missed. Take a trip down memory lane while our favorite celebs remind us of the top 5 Things SCAD Savannah Students Hate.

Paper Mill:  The response to the nightly question “Ew, what’s that smell?” This horrid stench fills the city of Savannah weekly, and the only word suitable to describe it is

Trolley Tours: Most noticeable during freshmen year, the city tours seem to be everywhere. Though you aren’t the main attraction, almost everyone has experienced someone on a tour pointing at them and saying, “I think that’s a SCAD student”.

Carriage Rides: If you have ever gotten stuck behind a horse carriage in downtown, you already know where we’re going with this. 2mph is not okay, especially when you have a discussion post due by midnight. And don’t get us started on the “little gifts” the horses leave in the middle of the roads.

Humidity: To all of the girls who can’t seem to tame the frizz; we feel your pain. Not only is Savannah warm most of the year, but the humidity never seems to go away. If it’s one of those days where your hair is frizzing WHILE STRAIGHTENING IT, embrace your wild mane!

Parking: One thing savannah never seems to have enough of is parking. And when you think you found the perfect parking spot for the night, it’s actually a sweep zone…..or you don’t have enough quarters.

Though things may get annoying at times, the city of Savannah is a great place to live. I mean, can your friends from back home say Magic Mike XXL and the Spongebob Movie were filmed in their city?

Hello! My name is Angela Kastrunes. I am a senior Fashion Marketing and Management student at SCAD. I am the founder/CC for Her Campus-SCAD. Our chapter has grown so much over the past 3 years. I'm excited to say we have expanded to the Atlanta campus, and now have over 20 members combined. It's very bittersweet to realize this is my last year, working as a CC for HC. After graduation I hope to either work in social media management, PR for a fashion brand/music label, or as an editor of a fashion magazine (or Her Campus Nationals).
