Junior Broadcast Journalism major, Blaine King, can’t walk down Wood Street without being recognized. See what makes him popular when he discusses his involvement in student organizations:
HC: What made you decide to study at Point Park?
BK: I wanted to go to a new place that was not too far from home. So when I looked into schools to go to, Point Park attracted me because of the Broadcast Program and I wanted to come to the city of Pittsburgh.
HC: Why do you think students should become involved in organizations?
BK: I’m the President of the United Student Government. I am also a part of U-View where I work on camera and behind the scenes. I believe students should get involved because it will prepare you for your major also because it would help you grow as a person.
HC: What are some of your plans as USG President?
BK: My plans are to focus things back to the student body of Point Park, and by that I mean let the students of Point Park know that USG is here for them.
HC: How has being a part of U-View helped you so far?
BK: It has helped me get familiar with the broadcast field. It is preparing for what it takes to be in this business, whether I’m on-camera or behind the scenes doing production.
HC: What would be your dream job?
BK: My dream job would be a Sports Anchor for a major sports network.
HC: If you could interview anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
BK: I would like to interview John F. Kennedy. Growing up, he was my favorite President. From what I’ve read in books and from what my grandparents told me, he seemed like a really interesting guy to interview.
