I had never experienced true heartbreak until Jon Stewart announced he was leaving The Daily Show.

I found myself repeatedly saying, “That’s it. I don’t care who replaces him. Jon’s last day is my last day. I’m not going to watch after he’s gone.” I

And then I found myself with tickets to Trevor’s stand-up. He did a mini-tour in July—visiting four small theaters in the Northeast. “Alright, let’s see what this guy’s got,” I thought.

Well, he’s got a lot.

1. He’s able to bring a Millennial’s point of view to current events

Let’s be honest, there aren’t many from our generation talking about the on-goings of the world on a national scale. At just 31, Trevor brings a fresh perspective.

2. He also shines a light on our convoluted political system

Born and raised in South Africa, Trevor doesn’t totally get the American political process, and he’s certainly not afraid to poke fun at himself because of it. It will be refreshing (and probably eye-opening) to see the 2016 election play out through a foreigner’s eyes.

3. He’s got great banter with the correspondents already

4. He’s not trying to be Jon Stewart. Trevor is going to make The Daily Show his own.

5. He pushes boundaries

He certainly doesn’t shy away from controversial topics that need to be talked about.

6. He references Beyoncé with some regularity

7. Dimples (need we say more?)

8. He’s just downright hilarious

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah premieres Monday, September 28. Despite what I thought in February, I’ll definitely be watching.
