Your twenties is an exciting stage in your life. You have finally said goodbye to your teenage years and hello to being an adult. These are your selfish years, the time to discover your true self, discover new things, explore new places, and take on much more responsibilities than you have before. You can no longer be dependent on your parents for every single thing. It is a time to spread your wings and learn what it means to be on your own. At this point, you should be on your way to being established. Here are some things that every woman in her twenties should have:

1.  Self-love

In your 20s you should already know that your insecurities won’t magically disappear overnight. However, you can fix that by knowing what those insecurities are and how not to allow them to control your life. Remind yourself of everything that you are capable of and all the things that you have already accomplished. Remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. He makes no mistakes. You are worth it.

2. High Standards in Love

You are no longer in high school. You should no longer be cheating yourself by settling for those bad boys who slack off and have no plans for their future. Any relationship you enter either during or after college has the potential to be serious. You don’t want to end up with someone who doesn’t deserve you. Keep those standards high, darling. Your “Mr. Right” will show up when you least expect it.

3. Interview clothes

You already have a little black dress and some form of party clothes. While these are important, you should also have clothes fit for interviews. You never know when a job opportunity will pop up. Do not be that person who has to rush and purchase their interview clothes at the last minute. This is never a good idea.

4. Savings account

We all know the struggle of being a college student and living on your own. It is hard to afford a place and manage to feed yourself. That’s why there is nothing wrong with living with your parents or sharing an apartment with a group of friends. However, you should have some money saved up in the bank to use on rent and food. Don’t waste it all on alcohol and movie tickets.

5. Consistent exercise routine

You should establish an exercise routine that works for you.  Once you do, stick with it! Consistency is key. You feel so much better when your workouts are successful. Also, it is vital to know what workouts benefit your body the most.

6. Credit Card

Credit cards will help you build your credit. This will make it easier for you to buy a car and house in the future.  You should not use your credit card on every single purchase you make. In the long run it will be beneficial to you, trust me. If you can manage it, just use it a few times a month and pay it off in time in order to make your future brighter.

7. Recipes you can cook

Not everyone knows how to cook an elaborate meal, but a woman in her twenties should at least know how to make a few different things that don’t involve a microwave or come from a can. Some may feel that they can live off of Ramen Noodles and Vienna sausages, but we all know – it’s not the healthiest diet.

By the time you hit your twenties, you seriously need to start preparing for your future. That’s why it is important for you to check off all things on this list. How many of them do you currently have?  Take it one step at a time. Remember, prepare now so you can rest later.
