Major: Double Major in Anthropology & International Relations

Grad Year: 2017

Zodiac Sign: Capricorn

Relationship Status: In a relationship (sorry, ladies!)

Richard is a dean’s list student, the Vice President of Alpha Epsilon Pi, a volunteer tutor in the anthropology department, and a (probably very, very) familiar face on campus. He participates in Human vs. Zombies every semester, helps out with Chabad events and functions, is an active member of the debate club and interns for Tapingo on campus. He’s pretty much the real-life manifestation of Tony Stark and Archer combined in one energetic body. During our interview, he must have struck up a conversation with nearly 20 people he knew walking by- in the span of about 30 minutes. The man has SERIOUS networking skills.

Naturally I had to ask what he does in his free time (that is, if he has any at all). His response was kinda legendary. He stated that he had a variety of answers to this question. Although, as of late he can be found binge playing Destiny, “Which will turn into Halo 5 on October 27th.” And beyond that, he spends most of his time hanging out with the guys and prepping for the LSAT.

When I asked Richard what his favorite part of being a member of Greek life, and Alpha Epsilon Pi was, he immediately retorted, “AEPi is a very committed and stable group of friends who I can call on for anything and trust with my life. And when we pull our resources together we can do anything… Dues aren’t for friends, they’re for events like brotherhood golf, paintball and sixflags.”

And later on in the conversation…

HC: Where do you see yourself after graduation?

RP: “President of the United States of America. Wait, it depends on what we’re talking about. Short term or long term?”

HC: Either one.

RP: “Short term? Law school. Long term? President of the United States of America.”

At this point, (despite having known Richard for quite some time, like over half of the campus does) I wasn’t sure quite what to expect when I asked him what advice he had for underclassmen. But he definitely didn’t disappoint! He said, unflinchingly, “Major in what you want to major in, because what you’re good at is what you’ll excel at. And what you excel at is what you’ll get a job in. Don’t spend four years of your life being miserable in a major you hate. And take an anthropology class. Trust me, it gives you a world view you’ll have a hard time finding anywhere else. #RushAEPi.”
