What drew you to History Club when your major is in the Williams College of Business? What do you like best about the club?Â
I was originally a history major, and even after I declared an accounting major I wanted to stay involved with history! Its just so much fun! I love the people in history club — I made my first friends at Xavier University there, and I currently hold the position of Vice President of History Club with my best friend Sean Brown, which is really fun.
What’s your favorite era in history? Why?
I love the Roaring Twenties; I would love to attend a party with flapper dresses and dancing like the Great Gatsby! I would also love to be a member of the French Court during the height of the French Monarchy.
If you could invite two people from the past to have a dinner party with you, who would you choose and why?
I would invite George Washington because I would love to hear more about the founding of the United States, and I would also invite Grace Kelly to dinner because I would love to hear more about her life. If I could choose a modern day person, it would definitely be Kerry Washington!
Why do you think everyone should learn more about history, even if it doesn’t seem directly related to their major or future profession?
Its really fun to learn about. Most of the time the information is still relevant today and can help us live better lives today.
What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned from studying history?
“There are no extraordinary men… just extraordinary circumstances ordinary men are forced to deal with.” – William HalseyÂ
