Let’s be real, we all have our weakness when it comes to TV shows; especially since Netflix makes it so easy to find them. Everyone has their own favorite show and their own reasons for loving it. Maybe a show is just really funny and it’s what you need to pick you up when you are having a rough day. A show could also be full of drama and you might find yourself pausing it when it gets intense. Well, one of my all time favorite shows is “One Tree Hill” because the ladies in this show are truly strong women.

Brooke Davis:

Lesson 1: There’s no man that could ever come between two BFF’s! From the very beginning, Brooke knew what it meant to be a true friend.

Lesson 2: Embrace who you are and be confident doing it. Brooke is not afraid to be herself. In high school, she might have seemed like the typical party girl, but she did a lot more than just party. She stayed true to herself and used her strength to show her community that she is more than what people see on the surface. Brooke is confident in her own skin, which is an important trait to have.

Haley James Scott:

Lesson 3: Be grateful for what you have in life. It’s hard to have our priorities straight all the time, but it seems like Haley has it all figured out…at least most of the time. While Nathan is at home moping, Haley is working hard to support her entire family and she definitely needed to give Nathan that reality check to help him get back on his feet…literally.

Lesson 4: Don’t stop believing in people and give them second chances sparingly when deserved. It is really hard to forgive and forget, especially when your father-in-law kills his own brother; who happened to be close to you and your best friend growing up. It is hard to say if Dan really deserves forgiveness, but towards the end of the series, Haley really gave Dan a chance.

Peyton Sawyer:

Lesson 5: Don’t judge others, instead encourage and accept them. Peyton has always been the kind of girl to give great advice to her friends, even if she couldn’t help herself with the same advice. She is able to put her own problems aside to help those around her. When her friend, Anna, comes out to Peyton and says that she is bisexual and wants to keep it a secret, Peyton encourages her to be comfortable with who she really is. Respecting other’s life styles, even when they are different than yours is what it truly means to be a great person and an even better friend.

Lesson 6: Don’t give up on your dreams and never stop trying to inspire people. Peyton never stopped following her dreams and overcame the obstacles to achieve what she truly wanted in life: to inspire people and give them something to believe in.

There are more women who play an integral role in One Tree Hill, like Karen and Quinn, but I think that Brooke, Haley, and Peyton are my favorites because they really show that even through the hardest times, love and strength will get you through anything in your life and that’s what really matters.
