From One Tiger to Another: An Interview with C.J. Uzomah

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

Name: CJ Uzomah

Age: 22

Hometown: Suwanee, GA

Athletic career: Former tight end for Auburn Tigers, currently playing for the Cincinnati Bengals

What is your spirit animal? Without question it’s a wolf. I have wolf shirts for every day of the week if I happen to be in tune with my spirit animal that particular week. I’m really not sure why, but the shirts are awesome.

What is your biggest pet peeve? I would have to say when people walk really slow in awkward spaces. The spaces where you might be able to pass if you speed up but aren’t quite sure if you can make it before people walking in the opposite direction pass, meanwhile people behind you are wondering why you haven’t passed the person yet. Pretty much putting you between a rock and a hard place.

Cats or dogs? Dogs. I had both while at Auburn. The cat’s name was Chalupa Batman (Leo for short) and the dog’s name was Shug. Leo just didn’t do anything. If you called his name he’d look at you funny and walk the other way. When you call dogs, they run up to you and are elated to see you.

Would you rather use hot sauce as eye drops or swallow a tablespoon of baby powder? I’d rather neither, ever. But if I were forced to choose, baby powder. I feel like that’s less painful for a shorter amount of time.

Your favorite emoji is… The showing teeth smiley face. I feel like it’s the best to use when you say something sarcastic, which I tend to do fairly often.

Backstreet Boys or N SYNC? This pains me to say because Justin Timberlake is my guy, but Backstreet Boys through and through. One Direction has nothing on either one of these groups.

What motivates you? Obviously I’m motivated on a daily bases by God and my family, but I’d have to say Lutz and Lauren. Lauren is a little girl that fought off cancer and is currently cancer-free. And Lutz, well, Lutz was a lot of things to me and brother was at the forefront of them all. I try to live each day to its fullest because of them.

Look up and to your left…describe what you see. My washer and dryer to my left, both in need of use. To my right a double chicken bowl from Chipotle with brown rice, veggies, mild and corn sauce, lettuce, cheese, and gauc. MMM

What was your favorite class you took while at Auburn? Information Systems Management was up there as one of my favorites. Professor Rainer is an awesome teacher.

Any advice you have for current Auburn students? 1) Embrace the Auburn community and the friends you make. The resources and connections that you make will go a long way. 2) Enjoy yourself. I’m not saying go off the deep end and never go to class because you’d rather be out having fun, but at the same time don’t be too isolated in your dorm room. Meet people, live a little, the whole nine yards. 3) Cheer for your Auburn Tigers (all sports) as loud as can be all the time! War Eagle!
