What are you involved in on campus? “Just a little bit of everything! I am Academic Programing Coordinator on the Molloy Student Government, president of the Red Cross club, and a member of the National Resident Hall Honorary and Campus Ministry. I am a part of the women’s tennis and track and field teams. Lastly I work in the Office of Student Affairs, Resident Life, and as a tutor.”
What made you chose the Molloy tennis team? “It’s actually a funny story as to how I became a member of the team. I was actually recruited by Professor Dan McGann. I was interviewing for the liberal arts Honors College at the time, when he read my resume, and saw that I played tennis my senior year of high school. He asked if I was interested in playing a sport and I automatically said yes. From there, the rest is history and being a member of such a fantastic team was and is one of the best decisions of my collegiate career. I love being able to represent Molloy College with my school spirit at matches. The tennis team is more than just girls coming together that play tennis. We eat, sleep, and travel together forming strong bonds amongst the girls. We are a family that cares for one another. This sense of a small community is what makes the tennis team so special and awesome to be a part of.”
What is your life motto? “Tough question as I have so many. But if I had to pick two they would be ‘Everything in life happens for a reason’ and also ‘Life is a journey not a destination, have faith in your ability.'”
What is your favorite word? “Hope. I love that this word motivates me to look forward to a brighter tomorrow.”
Define tennis in 3 words! “Exhilarating, frustrating, and a lot of fun.”
What is your best tennis match memory? “My favorite tennis match memory is going to the ITA’s in Philadelphia last year and Queens this year. It was a great experience traveling to an away venue with the team as well as meeting other tennis players from other schools in our division. The atmosphere of the competition was firery but friendly, and it was fun to cheer our teammates on as they faced tough competition throughout the two days.”
If you were an animal, what would you be? “I would be a butterfly. They are majestic, graceful creatures and I love the way that they fly in the air.”
What sport would you have chosen if not tennis? “If I didn’t play tennis then I would probably be a figure skater. I used to figure skate as a kid, and I loved the way in which the skaters could move so freely and artistically on the ice.”
What turns you off? “Being unorganized and wasting time. I am super organized and like to have things planned out.”
What is your favorite healthy snack? “Definitely apples!”
Who is better-looking: track men or tennis men? “Haha! In general as athletes, professional tennis players like Nadal and Djokovic are pretty handsome with their toned bodies and foreign accents. However to me, my boyfriend who is a track runner is the best looking man because not only physically, but also because he truly loves me and accepts me for who I am.”
What is your ideal tennis outfit? “My go-to outfit would be a free Molloy t-shirt and a pair of under armour spandex.”
You have no practice… what do you do? “Eat, sleep, study, or watch House or Grey’s Anonomy on Netflix.”
