Best Donuts in Tampa Bay

Best Donuts in Tampa Bay

I love donuts. I like to call myself a donut connoisseur. I’ve tried all the major donut places you can name in Tampa Bay and I can now share with you all where you should go.

Let’s begin with the basics:

Dunkin’ Donuts-various locations all over the country

Dunkin’ Donuts is probably one of the most well-known donut places. I’d assume everyone has had a donut from here at least one time. They are not bad, but they are not the best donuts in Tampa Bay. The presentation of Dunkin’ Donuts you can tell are mass produced. It’s not like each one is made with love. I’m not saying these are bad donuts, because they aren’t. After trying different flavors (including their new Reese’s Peanut Butter Square) I’d say my favorite is the maple donut from here. A basic flavor, but still good.

Fray’s Donut House-various locations in Saint Petersburg

Fray’s Donut House is a popular local donut shop in Saint Petersburg. The donuts from here are very good, but they are not as popular as I thought they would be. They have typical breakfast cafe hours, most only open until late afternoon. They have the same kinds of donuts that Dunkin’ Donuts have, but have a more fresh taste to them in my opinion. Out of all the donuts I have had from here, my favorite is the classic glazed donut. It’s simple but tastes so fresh and delicious (especially if they are still warm)!

Perk’s Donut Bar2109 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33629

The options here are endless! I love Perk’s Donut Bar. Their one location is in Tampa. If you live in Saint Petersburg, I promise it is worth the drive. They always have a Signature Donut of the Week and the week I went it was Sea Salt Caramel which was amazing. They also have custom donut bar options. You first choose the coating/icing to go on top the donut, then the toppings, and then the drizzle! Some of my favorite creations I’ve made is lemon icing with coconut shreds and raspberry drizzle or the maple with raspberry drizzle. The best part about this place is that they have gluten free donuts available as well! This is a must go.

Soho Donut Company– 117 Hyde Park Ave, Tampa, FL 33606

I’ve saved the best for last. Soho Donut Company is my go to place to get donuts. The types of donuts you can get here are unlike any donuts I’ve ever seen before. Not only do they have cool names for their donuts (like Cereal Killers, Scarface, the Charlie Sheen, and Fat Elvis), but they are not your typical donuts. The Cereal Killers are covered with either Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, or Captain Crunch cereals. The Scarface is a guava filled donut with lines of powdered sugar on them. My favorite is the Cinnamon Toast Crunch donut. (P.S. you can also get a sandwich on a grilled donut…I found my own personal heaven!)
