Last weekend, Penn State Behrend students had the opportunity to experience a seriously rave-worthy event: Paint University. To play on a quote from one of our favorite pop divas, Taylor Swift, “the rest of the world was black and white, but we [Penn State Behrend] were in screaming color.” Â Â
Paint University, more commonly known as Paint U, is an interactive campus event that takes dance parties to a whole new level. On Friday, September 18, the Lion Entertainment Board (LEB) hosted this event, which had PSB students crowding the Behrend fields in anticipation.
Hundred of students waited in line to receive their free white tee shirt and pair of glasses, which were necessary additions to the event. However, the number of attendees drastically surpassed the estimated 300 that LEB had planned for, and the free swag quickly ran out. No worries though, this did not stop the Behrend Lions from having a great time. Â
Once students had flooded the field, the party really got started. Music was blaring through the stereos, and the daringly bold neon lights lit up the night. The event was led by a DJ and a co-host who were responsible for keeping the party going. Numerous buckets of paint covered the stage, and the co-host was left to entertain the audience members by firing tubes full of paint out into the crowd, and some lucky individuals even received a lid of paint to the face.
The selfie game was definitely strong at Paint U, and the DJ and co-host were even hopping in on some! With paint being launched in numerous directions, students could not escape this event clean, and could consider themselves lucky if they didn’t get paint in their eyes, ears, mouth, or nose. The executive director of LEB, Tyler Ferraino, believed the event was a success, and we couldn’t agree more. Ferraino said, “Months of planning and a lot of hard work paid off that night. I can’t thank my advisor, eboard, and friends enough for all the help with this awesome event!” There’s no denying that this event created colorful memories for members of the Behrend student body.Â
