Meet Paris! Paris is hardworking, dedicated and has big goals for her future career in the media field. Keep reading for a chance to learn more about Paris, and be sure to check out her work!

Full Name: Paris J. Echols

Age: 21

Classification: Senior

Major: Mass Media

Hometown: Stone Mountain, GA

HC: What organizations are you involved in at VSU?

Paris: I am the President of Film and Video Society. This is my third year in the club, I was Vice President my second year.

HC: What do you want to do in the field of Mass Media? What’s your dream job?

Paris: It’s my dream to become a well-known film director. Realistically, I’d want to do anything in the film and television industry. I’m well versed in all aspects of production, so I wouldn’t mind ending up screenwriting, shooting, or editing.

HC: How do you feel about what you’ve accomplished so far?

Paris: I’m comfortable and confident with my achievements thus far. This past summer I had five jobs that were all production related, I feel as though that’s a great way to start my senior year. Knowing that I’m already capable of upholding multiple jobs within my field is really reassuring.

HC: Do you take part in any internships?

Paris: Yes, this summer I interned with the city of Valdosta’s government access channel, Channel 17. I was the interim Media Coordinator and head editor for a while.  I’ve currently been interning with Fusion Creative Marketing here in Valdosta, I shoot a lot of commercials for local businesses and discuss multiple marketing strategies.

HC: Who or what inspires you the most?

Paris: I would say that my parents inspire me a lot, they’ve always been supportive of my passion for film and media. My idol is Donald Glover, I really look up to him. He’s achieved everything that I could ever imagine doing and he’s from Stone Mountain just like me and went to my high school’s rivaled school. He’s proof that someone that’s in my shoes can make it.

HC: What do you plan on pursuing after you graduate?

Paris: After I graduate, I want to move back to Stone Mountain and get my MFA from either Emory or Georgia State University and pick up jobs on sets as a production assistant until I finish school. If I don’t end up getting a job in the field, I’ll be a mass media professor.

HC: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

Paris: At 31, I will either have my career off the ground or will still be working towards that. I don’t think I’d have a family by then, I’m sure I’d be establishing my career.

HC: Do you have any links to your work?

Paris: You can view my work on Vimeo and YouTube.

HC: How do you practice time management? Any tips?

Paris: People don’t know how tough it is to be a mass media student. Media requires a lot of group work and participation. I’ve literally had seven different GroupMe chats since school’s started. I manage my time by using an agenda planner and by staying in constant contact with my group members.
