6 Windy City Woes of Every Fashionista

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePaul chapter.

They definitely weren’t kidding when they said  Chicago is the Windy City and don’t get me wrong, I love it here, but it makes dressing cute an extremely frustrating experience. Though, if I do say so myself, I’m a trooper and I have somehow found it within myself to pull through. To all of my fellow girly girls and fashionistas out there, I feel your pain. Now let’s take a moment of silence to recognize all of our outfit failures and hopeless hair do’s. Without further ado, here are the 6 struggles every fashionista suffers from while living in the windy city:

  1. The inevitable Marilyn Monroe effect that occurs not just over subway grates, but all over the city thanks to the gusty winds (of which the buildings do not block out).

  1. The inability to keep your scarf in place and out of your face.

  1. Within the minute you step outside your hair is a hot mess and you are now committed to at least an hour of attempting to detangle your hair (and then an entire bottle of conditioner once you give up).

  1. Turning the corner to meet a gust of wind, making your eyes water and ruining the eyeliner you spent thirty minutes trying to make even.

  1. The impossibility of not losing your floppy hat in the wind, unless you want to spend the whole day holding your hat as you walk around.

  1. Never being able to take a decent picture with your crew because the wind shows no kindness and blows everything in the wrong directions.
