Every road trip has a few requirements: snacks, google maps, bathroom breaks at sketchy gas stations, and, most importantly, music. The playlist of a road trip might be the most essential part of ensuring a good drive (exceptions to this might include a car, gas, and directions). There’s 5 key elements to make the playlist for your next road trip great enough to keep you jammin’ the whole ride there and back.

1. 90’s/Early 2000’s Throwback Jams

Embarrassing songs from middle school days

Examples:

Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) – The Backstreet Boys

Come Clean – Hilary Duff

Miami – Will Smith

2. The Two Queen B’s -Beyonce and Britney Spears

Songs by the two greatest ladies to grace the earth

Examples:

Love On Top – Beyonce

Toxic – Britney Spears

Stronger – Britney Spears

3. Sorority Recruitment Video Songs

You know, the catchy pop/electronic songs that play in the background of EVERY video

Examples:

Runaway (U & I) – Galantis

Electric Love – BORNS

Take Me Home – Cash Cash, Bebe Rexha

4. Classic Rock

Songs we’ve all known the words to since we were 10

Examples:

Bennie and the Jets – Elton John

Everyday People- Sly & the Family Stone

Escape (The Pina Colada Song) – Rupert Holmes

5. Country

I don’t care if you don’t like country music. It is necessary for the perfect road trip playlist.

Examples:

I Don’t Want This Night to End – Luke Bryan

Cowboy Casanova – Carrie Underwood

Toes – Zac Brown Band
