Pi Beta Phi & Delta Delta Delta Host Philanthropy Events

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Denison chapter.

Are you a freshman considering going through recruitment, or are you simply wondering what the Greek organziations on campus do to help the greater community? This week, two Panhellenic sororities, Delta Delta Delta and Pi Beta Phi, will be hosting philanthropy events that can help resolve some of your questions.

Pi Phi Palooza

In the past, Pi Phi Palooza has traditionally been a spring event.  However, this year, the sisters of Pi Beta Phi will be hosting Pi Phi Palooza in the fall. There will be a 5v5 soccer tournament, a cookout, games and music, along with the usual favorites–Pie a Pi Phi and the pie eating contest. The event will be held at Lamson Lodge on October 24 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wristbands are being sold for $8, and it is $50 to register a team of five.

Pop For St. Jude!

Delta Delta Delta is hosting their annual Pop For St. Jude event this week in Slayter. Tabling started on October 19, but it will continue on October 20, October 21 and October 23. The premise behind Pop For St. Jude is simple and fun; individuals who participate pay a small fee to pop a balloon and win a prize. Prizes include Jolly Pirate Donuts, candy and gift cards. The Tri Deltas are also raffling off three larger prizes for those who purchase raffle tickets: a “Workout Bundle” (5 class pass to Village Core and 3 class pass to Fly Method Cycle), tickets to a Columbus Blue Jackets game and a Pandora bracelet.

I am an English Creative Writing major from Los Angeles, California. In addition to my Her Campus responsibilities, I am also the Editor-in-Chief of Denison's student newspaper. I am involved in Greek life on campus as a sister of Pi Beta Phi. I have an insatiable passion for all things Harry Potter. When I'm not in class, you can find me taking long naps, reading, biking or binge watching Netflix.
