5 Things to be Excited for During HOCO Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

If you don’t know already, Homecoming is a huge deal here at Oklahoma State. Whether you’re experiencing HOCO for the first time, or the fifth, there are a few traditions to get pumped up about.

  1. The Dyeing of the Fountain The dyeing of the fountain to bright orange happened 5:30 on Sunday. However, the fountain stays orange all week, so as you go to and from class, or if you just want to take a study break, make sure to check it out!
  2. Homecoming Signs At the same time you’re checking out the fountain, you may notice that library lawn has signs from various campus organizations painted and on display. On your way to the union, stop to see the homecoming themed signs and choose your favorite.
  3. WalkaroundFriday night, after the students have finally finished their all-night pomp and judges have deliberated, students and Alum walk around the Greek neighborhood and campus looking at decks and floats. This is lovingly referred to as Walkaround and is a great opportunity to see all the displays and run into friends. Food trucks will be available to grab food, too!
  4. Homecoming and HoopsThe OSU basketball team will play a scrimmage Friday night. Guess what! It’s open to everyone, regardless if they a sports pass! So after walkaround, bounce over to Gallagher-Iba Arena to watch the game.
  5. The football gameKickoff for the Homecoming game against Kansas is at 2:30 on Saturday, October 24. During the game, homecoming royalty will be announced, as well as the winners for booths, floats, decks and everything else organizations and reslife have spent weeks working on. It’s always so exciting!
