Surprise—you’re already sick of eating at the dining hall! Not to worry, we’ve made a list of easy recipes you can make in your dorm using ingredients you already have.
1. Breakfast: Easy Scrambled Eggs
These scrambled eggs are perfect for those mornings where you need a quick breakfast before scrambling to class. Added bonus: eggs have lots of protein, which means you’ll stay full!
What you need:
· 2 eggs
· Splash of milk
· Any desired toppings such as cheese and salt & pepper
What to do:
· Crack both eggs into a microwave-safe dish or mug and add a splash of milk. Use a fork to beat the eggs and milk together.
· Place in the microwave for about a minute, stir them, and microwave them once more for another minute.
· Remove from the microwave, and top with cheese, salt, and pepper!
2. Lunch: Ramen Mac & Cheese
You already have a million packs of ramen—why not skip the sodium-filled seasoning packets and make an easy mac & cheese recipe instead? This ramen recipe has got to be one of the best ones out there!
What you need:
· Package of ramen noodles
· Cheese/Velveeta
· Milk & Butter (if desired)
What to do:
· Cook the ramen noodles (plain) in the microwave.
· Either melt shredded cheese on top of the cooked noodles OR make your own cheese sauce by combining cheese (or half a block of Velveeta) with a little milk and butter and heating it in the microwave until melted. Serve over the cooked ramen noodles.
3. Dinner: Taco in a Bag
Although you might need to buy some ground beef for this, it’s completely worth it! This is one of the easiest recipes you’ll find, and it’s one of the best tasting ones too. Doritos for dinner? Um, yes please!
What you need:
· Nacho-flavored Doritos
· Ground beef
· Taco fixings (lettuce, tomato, cheese)
What to do:
· Microwave the ground beef on HIGH until cooked (about 2 minutes for a small portion. Make sure it’s cooked all the way through!
· Crush up Doritos.
· Add ground beef and any preferred taco fixings to the crushed Doritos.
4. Dessert: Nutella Hot Chocolate—This hot chocolate recipe is perfect for when you need a little pick-me-up!
What you need:
· Milk (whole milk works the best!)
· ½ cup of Nutella
What to do:
· Pour milk into a microwave-safe mug.
· Add ½ cup of Nutella and stir as best as possible.
· Microwave for 2-3 minutes and stir again.
5. Snack: Easy Quesadillas—These quesadillas do the trick when you need a little snack, and you can just hear that package of Halloween Oreos calling your name… Resist the urge and snack on these easy quesadillas!
What you need:
· Flour tortillas
· Cheese
· Any other preferred fillings (lettuce, tomato, meat, etc.)
· Guacamole or salsa (optional)
What to do:
· Put one tortilla on a plate, cover with cheese and any other quesadilla fillings you prefer, and place the second tortilla on top.
· Microwave for about 30 seconds to a minute.
· Take out of the microwave, and enjoy with (or without) your favorite salsa or guacamole dip.
6. Snack: Banana Oatmeal Cookies—Are these cookies healthy? Yes. But do they taste good? Yes again! These are a must-try for everyone!
What you need:
· 2 ripe bananas
· 1 cup of plain (or flavored) oatmeal
· Chocolate chips, nuts, or another add-in of your choice (optional)
What to do:
· Mash the bananas and the oatmeal together in a bowl. Put any add-ins into the mixture if you choose.
· Place on a greased cookie sheet and place in the oven at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes.
Although the dining hall has expansive, gourmet meals that you can pick up virtually whenever you want to, sometimes it’s nice to leave the lap of luxury and make a few meals for yourself! When Wing Wednesday just isn’t cutting it, try one of these recipes!
